‘In April of 2014, my son, just over three years old, timidly sitting in front of Ms. Sui ming, began to take her eurythmic class. Our family is large; father and mother, aunts and uncles, cousins, and many people bustle around constantly. Our little boy did not lack company, toys, books, or any of life’s necessities; he didn’t lack for music, songs from TV or videos. His aunts and cousin often played the piano and violin. However, there seemed to be something important missing, the spiritual awareness of music, its potential dynamism and tranquillity.
Yet in Ms. Suiming’s music class, my little boy followed the music, running, walking, skipping with delight, his eyes filled with confidence and joy. Music became a place of rest and part of his dreams. On the final musical note, he would open his eyes, the corners of his mouth upturned with a wonderful smile, his eyes quietly shining, filled with joy and perceptiveness. Three months later, at the end of spring, I asked Ms. Suiming to let my son continue growing with her music class.
Time flies, he is now in Primary 1. He loves singing and even creates his own songs. He loves stories and tells his own. He loves games, and designs his own rules. He loves LEGO, and builds his own designs. He shares toys willingly with other children, and even gives up his most loved toys to comfort dejected friends.
Perhaps he might not be at the top of his Maths class, perhaps his writing is not the most beautiful, and he is not the best at sports, but he has grown into a happy, confident child with good values’.

I believe Dalcroze Eurhythmics is a great method, a holistic approach to art and to learning, involving so many different aspects of movement, of music, of being creative, of using the body... I think it’s fantastic.
This is a rigorous pedagogy. So often when you see music and movement classes, you think anyone can do this... but in setting the framework for children to play an instrument and generally make music of a high standard, Dalcroze is in a class of its own.
Sui Ming Chu is very well qualified and experienced in teaching the Dalcroze method. And most importantly she has the passion to teach this method, to make it make a difference.
My children have very much enjoyed being taught by Sui Ming. They returned from each lesson full of energy and always looking forward to the next lesson, talking about it repeatedly. I can see it has been really beneficial for their personal development as well as their appreciation of music. In summary, as an instrumentalist, as a music teacher and as a parent, I can see that Dalcroze really works.

I have never loved the piano as much as now. You have changed my attitude. It is so much fun. It is an ear opening experience.

My toddler takes things that she learns in class and applies them at home; I am amazed how much she now understands. She is particularly good at following instructions. I am sure your class has been instrumental in this.
— Anna, mum of Georgia, 18th month

Her face lights up when there is music on and she uses the opportunity to dance too.
— Sue, mum of Anita, 3 years old

She is now good at clapping and following rhythm.
— Karen, mum of Olive, 20 month old

I am so happy to see my child learning in collaboration with other children.
— Karissa, mum of Isaac, 4 years old

They sing a lot more and play their musical games with friends at home. Apart from learning music, it helps my son’s body-mind coordination
— Paul Young, father of Tom and Richard

My son used to just standing there and watch in class. However, he was so active participating in today’s Dalcroze Eurthymics class. It surprise me!

Hey Sui Ming thank you for the class! Enjoyed it a lot! Haven’t played like a kid for a long time and letting go of al the identity and to feel the music is pretty good exercise for me. Sometimes it is not easy for me to just feel the music and dance.move along art the same time, allowing the body to flow with the feeling comes out of it. Like it a lot! Thanks for the class!
